FAMILY STEALS POT OF SOUP IN ABUJA

A man and his two children have allegedly stolen a pot of soup from where a resident was cooking in Mpape, an Abuja urban slum.

The incident happened along Mashafa road in the area on Monday.

The owner, identified only as Femi, said he was stunned to find the man and his family already eating his ogbono soup which they stole when he stepped into his house to get salt.

He said due to his astonishment, he could not do anything but watch as the family ate the soup with akpu which he said they must have brought along with them.

“I was cooking in the compound and went into the room to get salt, that was when they took the pot of soup and before I could ask, they were already eating the soup with their akpu,’’ he said.

Femi explained that the father later apologised, saying they were hungry and had nothing to eat.

“I had no choice than to leave them with it, but they should not have taken everything,” he said.

He continued in Pidgin English, “The thing pained me. I am also managing and had to look for the money for that soup and they just took everything.’

He said he only asked them to return the pot after they had helped themselves with its content.

SPORTS: NIGERIA'S RELAY TEAM BANNED IN RIO 2016

The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) has banned Nigeria’s 4x400m women’s relay team from attending the 2016 Olympic Games holding in Rio, Brazil, next month.

According to IAAF, the Nigerian team was banned because one of them, Tosin Adeloye, tested positive to drugs during the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) Super Grand Prix/Warri Relays in Warri, Delta State on July 24th last year.

Adeloye’s positive drug test and subsequent ban for eight years means all the results she achieved from the period she tested positive, individually and jointly will be disregarded. The Nigerian team can no longer forward a new replacement.

FEMALE KIDNAPPER STRIPPED NAKED IN OYO TOWN!

And in the early hours of today in the ancient town of Oyo, an unforgettable incident happened that left many parents shocked and scared.

At about 7am when parents were leaving for their work places and young children were being taken to their various schools, a mad woman was roaming aimlessly around an area of the town, Lanlokun street of Isokun along Ilora road. Unknown to the supposed mad woman, some guys who were operating a mechanic workshop have also observed her prowling.

Apparently disturbed by the recent kidnapping cases in the country by fellows disguising as crazy people, one of them pointed at the woman and said he suspected the woman to be one of such people. Immediately the 'mad' woman heard this, she took to her heels and this made the people around to give a hot  pursuit after which she was caught.

The supposed  'mad' woman was given some beaten and she confessed that she was a indeed a kidnapper. The enraged but shocked crowd immediately proceeded to stripping the woman of her clothes.

On stripping her of the outer 'rags', it was discovered that she had a decent clothing beneath the rags. The woman was also caught with two mobile handsets.

In her confession, she said she wasn't the only one in the 'business' as others were also spread across the State.

And if we are to be reminded of a woman caught in similar situation sometime last month in Lagos. The woman confessed that  there is a syndicate of twenty-seven (27) women brought in from the neighboring Benin Republic into the country to disguise as mad people to kidnap young children.

Unfortunately, by the time our crew got to the scene of the incident, the Police have already apprehended this woman who had almost been roasted alive by the angry mob and so pictures could not be taken.

With these disturbing revelations, parents are advised toalways be at alert and secure their children. We live in an evil world!

PARENTS ALERT: KINDNAPPERS ON THE PROWL - OMOIYAKUNMI

This is an open letter to all parents and guardians to always prioritize the security and safety of their children and wards. The latest kidnapping trend in the country isn't only pathetic and worrisome but also, very heartbreaking.

Recently, the media has been agog with news of kidnapping incidents. The kidnappers are interested in virtually all specie of human beings depending on their demand/desire. It is often rumored that the kidnappers are on the payrolls of influential and wealthy people who use the victims majorly for rituals.

Nowadays, kidnapping has taken a new twist. Check the escalating figures of kidnapped adults and children and it will leave you in no doubt as to how efficient the methods they now employ to cajole their victims.

Let me inform parents, especially, that one of the modus operandi of the kidnappers now is to disguise as mad people. They trail wandering kids down the streets and when they noticed that the child is way out of sights of the people around, the mad fellow jumps on the child.

From recent confessions, it has been discovered that voodoo/juju are often used immediately to make the victim disappear. Hmmm... The victims are mostly for rituals and not for ransom as the buyer is immediately contacted via the phones most of the kidnappers carry along with them.
A typical situation of the above is the case of a supposed mad woman who was caught in Lagos a couple of weeks ago. After she was beaten, she became ‘sane’ and fear of lynching made her start divulging information. She claimed that they were twenty-seven (27) women in all that came as a group of the syndicate from Benin Republic. Each woman was given 4 or 5 phones to contact their buyers once the target; little children, is acquired. The phone is to be thrown away after transactions to avoid detection.

You can now imagine! Some parents/guardians are very careless with their children/wards. Some neglect these kids and allow them to roam the streets at odd hours. Some even send young and tender kids to far distances unaccompanied. This is very irresponsible. Some leave their children at the mercies of the neighbors who care less about what becomes of them.

Another method often used by these kidnappers is when they pose as house-helps. House-help related kidnapping cases are very common with the supposed career parents who leave their children in the trusting hands of house-helps they barely know their backgrounds or families.

An instance of such kidnap is the
story of Mary Akinloye, a house help who kidnapped three kids in the Surulere area of Lagos State and demanded N15 million from her employers for the release of their children. Akinloye, a 23-year-old indigene of Ibadan, Oyo State, was said to have been hired through an online trading portal, OLX. Reports say the parents of the children posted a notice on the online sales portal requesting the services of a nanny. Akinloye then offered her services and gave the parents the phone numbers of two individuals she claimed were her relatives. The family agreed to formalise documentation with the purported relatives and went ahead to employ the nanny. Barely one day after she resumed work, the 23-year-old house help bolted with the three children, aged between 11 months and six years, away while their parents were at work.

Now that the holiday period has come, its very important that parents/guardians ensure extra measures to secure and safeguard the lives of their children/wards.

- If you are to leave the kids at home, make sure that the doors and gates are well secured.

- Do not leave your children with neighbors or house-helps you barely know their background. Try and investigate properly any house assistant you intend taking in before fully engaging their services.

- Its also important that children are well educated and trained not to accommodate or relate with strangers in your absence. They should be properly guarded to also reject any gifts or offer of assistance from such fellows.

- Enroll your children in schools or tutorial centres with adequate security measures.

- Let us be watchful of any strange fellows roaming about our areas whether in the day or at nights. If such happens, be very quick to contact the security operatives in your area.

- Lastly, let us be very prayerful for our children.

MEET THE BLIND NIGERIAN COUPLES WHO MAKE BEADS

Hmmm.. What a world!
Mr. Ogunlayi
Mrs. Ogunlayi
These wonderful people were discovered only recently who decided to share their story on social media.

The blind but happy couple,  Mr Jimoh Ogunlayi and Mrs Bridget Ogunlayi are both victims of circumstances. Mr Jimoh Ogunlayi, a graduate of Federal College of Education (Sp.), Oyo with a degree in visual Impaired/social studies, lost his sight in 1993 due to an accident while the wife, Mrs Bridget lost her sight in 2008 due to a drug reaction. They got married in 2014.
Their craft which includes making bags, lamp holders, flower vases, flower pots, fruit baskets etc. were learnt from the Nigerian Farm Craft Center for the Blind Isheri Olofin Powerline Lagos.

They make liquid soaps and air fresheners.

The man is the one who fixes wiring and bulbs to the lamp holders by himself.

Apparently, the couple are proving that indeed, there is ability in every disability. They have chosen to make their hands useful instead of going around begging for alms.

CHURCH OF THE LORD (ALADURA): WHAT YOU DO NOT KNOW

 Introduction

The Church of the Lord (C. L.) started with only ten people who attended its inauguration at Ogere on July 30, 1930. The group has grown into an International organization with the expansion of the Church beyond Nigeria since 1947 to Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, London, United States and Europe. The members who constituted themselves into this fellowship followed a catechist, Oshitelu who parted company with the Anglican Church over the accusation that he was engaging in unorthodox practices like relying on healing through prayer alone, use of consecrated water and holy names. When Oshitelu could not be persuaded to desist from these practices, he was shown the way out of the Church Missionary Society (CMS) Anglican Church.

About the Founder: Josiah Oshitelu

Ifakoya Dawodu Oshitelu was born at Ogere to Pagan parents in 1902. He renounced his first two names at his baptism and took the names: Josiah Oluwalowo (God deserves honour). As a boy, Oshitelu demonstrated much zeal for the things of the Lord and after his elementary education he continued in the service of the Anglican Church as a pupil teacher and catechist.

His Call

Oshitelu was preparing to go to St. Andrew’s College, Oyo to become a trained teacher when on the night of May 17, 1925; he started having series of intense visionary experiences which haunted him and made him to become restless. On investigation, an old Prophet Somoye explained these encounters to mean that Oshitelu had been called to work in God’s vineyard as a prophet. Papa Somoye counseled Oshitelu to desist from the use of traditional medicine, put his faith in God and use the book of Psalms for his daily devotion. On the instructions of Pa Somoye, Oshitelu commenced fasting with prayer.

Not long afterwards, Oshitelu began to hear voices which confirmed Prophet Somoye’s predictions. From that point in time, Oshitelu grew in spiritual development through disciplines of prayer and fasting. Within a short time, some elders in the Anglican Church noticed the new dimensions which Oshitelu was introducing into the accepted practices of the Church and cautioned him to desist from the so -called erroneous beliefs, practices and teaching.

When Oshitelu was adamant, he was dismissed from the Anglican Church. He went back to Pa Somoye for a two-year stay of apprenticeship as a disciple until in 1929 when he emerged as a public and prophetic preacher. He organized his first revival in his hometown on the 9th of June at Ogere. He inaugurated his Church the following year, July 1930 at the same place.

The Expansion of the Ministry
Oshitelu’s fame spread quickly as did those of the leaders of the indigenous Churches like Orimolade, Captain Abiodun, Joseph Babalola and J. B. Sadare. The Faith Terbanacle  leaders expressed interest in knowing more about the energetic young man from Ogere. However, disagreements over Oshitelu’s use of holy names and what he called “sealed words” kept the two groups apart. Some of the strange words reveled to him include holy names such as AWOBISILLAL (Healer), ARRABABLALHUS, ANOMONOMOLLAHHUJAH. Oshitelu insisted on using these holy names quoting Ezekiel 33:7, “So will I make my holy name known in the midst of people…” in support of his convictions. He advised that henceforth, the leaders of the Faith Terbanacle should mind their own business while he minds his.

With promptitude, Oshitelu and his disciples embarked on mass evangelistic campaigns which yielded fruitful results. The Church of the Lord (C. L.) spread quickly starting from Oyo and Ijebu towns. Further expansion took the Church into the Ondo and Ekiti lands. Subsequent major awaited the advent of a gifted evangelist Adeleke Adejobi who joined the ministry in 1940. He has resigned his appointment as a teacher to become Primate Oshitelu’s disciple.
In the mid-1940s, Adejobi managed to establish branches in Lagos where earlier emissaries had failed. From here, the Church spread rapidly into the Edo speaking Areas. Expansion into the other regions of Nigeria also followed.

In 1945, Primate Oshitelu had a vision about the expansion of his Church beyond Nigeria. He commissioned Apostles Adejobi and Oduwole to launch out to the other African countries. Adejobi was dispatched to Sierra Leone while Oduwole went to Liberia. The two Apostles later converged to establish the Church in Ghana. Later, the Church was established in some other West African countries. While Adejobi was on a two-year course at the Glasgow Bible Training Institute in 1961, he inaugurated the first branch of the Church of the Lord (C. L.) outside Africa, thus fulfilling Primate Oshitelu’s prophecy that the Church would go beyond the African continent.
