LCDAs: THE ARITMETHIC OF BLATANT INJUSTICE - MUIDEEN OLAGUNJU

HON. MUIDEEN OLAGUNJU
The Honorable  member representing Oyo East and West Constituency at the Oyo House of Assembly has taken to his Facebook page to share his view on the controversial creation of LCDAs in the State.

He wrote;

1991 CENSUS
OYO ZONE (Afijio, Atiba, Oyo East and Oyo West) - 343,690

OGBOMOSO ZONE (Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South, Ogo-Oluwa, Oriire and Surulere) - 374,149

Difference= 30,459 in favour of Ogbomoso Zone

2006 CENSUS

OYO ZONE - 563,957
OGBOMOSO ZONE - 657,417

Difference= 93,460 in favour of Ogbomoso Zone

*TAKE NOTE that TWO local governments have sub-100,000 population in the last census: Ogo-Oluwa (Ogbomoso Zone) with 65,104 and Olorunsogo (Oke-Ogun Zone) with 81,759.

*Ogbomoso Zone beats Oyo Zone with a population difference that is comparable to the population of two local governments in the Ogbomoso Zone namely Ogbomoso South (100,815) and Ogo-Oluwa (65,104).

*The pertinent question is: What is the basis of Ogbomoso Zone having THREE (3) MORE LCDAs over Oyo Zone?

*Ogbomoso Zone should not have more than one LCDA over Oyo Zone from the available facts particularly if one considers that the Lam Adesina's administration could not have used any other census other than the 1991 census which saw Ogbomoso Zone lead Oyo Zone by only 30,459.

*Gbogbo Oyo, oro re ooooooo.

*I will implore His Imperial Majesty, Iku Baba Yeye, the historically-acclaimed and most prestigious Yoruba traditional ruler, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, to maximize the goodwill and influence he has and enjoys with the present administration in Oyo State to seek to remedy this blatant injustice.

*As a member of the House of Assembly, I am prepared to work with honorable members from Oyo Zone to ventilate the agitation for justice in this regard as soon as the issue is laid before the House.

*I also call on interest groups, pressure groups and opinion leaders of Oyo extraction to assume roles that will complement efforts already being made to right this wrong.

 *OYO a gbe wa ooooo.
