In
what could be described as a deserving and landslide victory, the candidate of
the Labour Party, Mr. Balogun Lukman emerged as the winner in the Oyo State
House of Assembly bye election for Oorelope Local Government seat which became
vacant after the death of Hon. Gideon who was murdered by unknown gunmen.
Mr.
Balogun was declared winner after polling a massive 6,122 votes to defeat the
All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Mr. Jimoh Gbadamosi who had 4,148
votes and the Accord Party’s candidate who came third with 2, 123 votes.
In
his congratulatory message, the Special Adviser to the Deputy Speaker of the
House of
Representatives, Hon. Kamil Akinlabi, saluted the people of Oorelope
Local Government especially the leaders and members of the Labour Party for
their hard work and commitment towards ensuring that the party’s candidate
emerged as the winner at the election that was free and fair.
Hon.
Kamil further emphasized that the Labour Party’s victory at the poll was a
clear cut indication that the people of the Local Government remained resolute
on their choice of good representation. He assured that the party will continue
to grow stronger and better within and beyond the Local Government area.
He
also congratulated the winner, Mr. Balogun Lukman and advised him not to
disappoint the people who voted massively for him and to always uphold the
principles of the party on the platform of which he was elected.
